WHO AM I?

Hi there,

My name is Joe and I’m a recent graduate of Loughborough University London with an MSc in Sport Business and Innovation, and welcome to my page. Before I let you go and explore my designs and past projects, I thought I’d provide a brief background.

Sport, as many will say, is a part of who I am, and I would be lying if I told you my life doesn’t revolve around it. However, my passion for the industry extends beyond entertainment and is more of an exploration of the sector's commercial mechanisms. To uncover what makes sport so captivating, I have taken every educational opportunity to align my learning and have amassed an extensive knowledge base and skill set to aid in my passion for strategic commercial development.

Detail-oriented, analytical thinking and creativity are just a handful of skills for which I have been recognised for. My skills have led to invitations from IMG to present an innovative social media strategy for The R&A, as well as an event where I showcased a framework to help devise business strategies to target emerging football markets.

I aspire to be a driver in the commercial world of sport, and I aim to create innovative activations by forming strategic partnerships to elevate an organisation. Yet, I am not just stopping there; I am now on a design journey to develop attractive social media sports posts to enhance my understanding of consumers' desires.

I have spent over 9 years learning and evolving as a person in sport, and I find this is just the beginning. Please see my contact details below to discuss how I can help elevate your organisation.

Project purpose

Analyse the R&A's YouTube data through Excel and present an overview of the channel's successes and areas for improvement.

Within a small team, we discovered that the R&A effectively targets individuals aged 25 and above with video lengths that typically fall within either the 15-minute mark or exceed an hour. However, further analyses indicated the R&A struggles with consistent engagement outside the golfing season, while other golfing channels utilise informative content to capture the younger audience.

In light of this, we recommended a more consistent upload schedule, where an abundance of videos would be made during the peak season to be stored and posted during the off-season. One video idea was a podcast that invited other sporting stars, as other athletes were recognised, to drive Chanel engagement. Another idea was an informative, interactive YouTube series that allowed the viewer to dictate where the next shot would land, subsequently learning to play golf.

Collaborative Project Show

Project purpose

Evaluate two emerging football markets and the pathway players from these regions take. From this information, devise a method to identify other emerging football markets to help Sports Interactive expand its player database for Football Manager.

From our analysis, we found that Western Africa and Japan are growing football regions with more distinctive pathways being identified, allowing players to navigate into Europe. A deeper analysis of the player data showed that European teams valued Western African players' physicality and playing ability, while Japanese players were signed for their mentality.

The conclusion of our analysis led us to create a Future Growth Market Assessment Framework, which would enable Sports Interactive to identify other emerging football markets. This would then allow the company to implement effective strategies, enabling them to identify areas of the globe where they can expand their scouting network. Additionally, it helps them produce commercially viable solutions that wont jeopardise their revenue and make more informed decisions.

Since completing my degree, I have been on a creative journey to elevate my understanding of fan engagement through digital content using Adobe Creative Cloud. Feel free to have a look at some of my designs and if you have any feedback, do not hesitate to contact me and let me know.

Here, you can find my current work as a sport marketing assistant for Nottingham Hospitals' Radio.

The extent of my work has led me to design the sport graphics for Badminton Wales for their annual Welsh International Open.
